Ensure Your Customers Are Prepared When Natural Catastrophes Strike

Fee: $30, includes 1 voucher for free online course from Business Insurance's CE Center

This new webinar is part of Business Insurance’s Middle-Market Challenges Series of Webinars. With record catastrophe losses in 2011, helping clients to understand and manage their catastrophe exposure can save lives and dollars, and may make the difference in keeping a business operating through a crisis. This 60-minute webinar will review not only preparations that organizations can make to minimize damage and business interruption, but also steps to streamline the claims/recovery process after a loss. Our expert panel will focus on advice for middle-market companies, as well as the brokers that serve this market. Presenting will be: Jill Dalton, Partner, Dempsey Partners LLC, and Gregory P. Lanshe, Director of Property Loss Prevention Services-Risk Engineering, Zurich Services Corporation. The webinar will be moderated by Business Insurance Senior Editor Mark Hofmann. Do Your Clients Have a D&O Problem?

Fee: $30, includes 1 voucher for free online course from Business Insurance's CE Center

This new webinar is part of Business Insurance’s Middle-Market Challenges Series of Webinars. Increasingly, private/non-profit companies are looking for ways to shield their top executives from liability, and are turning to the same directors & officers liability insurance coverage that large publicly held companies buy. While shareholder lawsuits drive most lawsuits against publicly held companies, there are other exposures that lead to the need for D&O protection. Whether they are publicly traded, privately held or a nonprofit, midsize and smaller firms also face the risk of lawsuits filed by employees, competitors, vendors and regulators. International operations can also create exposures. Understanding the liability exposures facing mid-sized companies, and whether D&O protection is the solution, is the focus of this webinar. Our expert panel will focus on advice for middle-market companies, as well as the brokers that serve this market. Presenting will be Edward M. Joyce, Partner, Jones Day, and Bertrand Spunberg, Senior Vp, Management Liability Product Head, Hiscox USA. The webinar will be moderated by Business Insurance Associate Editor Matt Dunning. Exploring Alternative Risk Financing Options for Employee Benefits

Fee: $30, includes 1 voucher for free online course from Business Insurance's CE Center

This new webinar is part of Business Insurance’s Middle-Market Challenges Series of Webinars. This presentation will cover latest trends for brokers who aim to help their middle-market clients explore alternative risk financing options, including captives and self-insured arrangements, for their health care employee benefit programs. Attendees will learn how to advise clients considering traditional self-funding of health benefits and/or "blended" programs that combine large deductible plans with a self-funded Health Reimbursement Arrangement. The presentation will also explore using a captive to fund stop-loss coverage for a self-funded benefits program as a way to avoid the risk of "lasering," in which stop-loss carriers laser in on an individual plan member whose health history or diagnosis indicates that he/she will likely be a high-cost claimant. Often the carrier will either double the attachment point or, in more severe cases, exclude coverage entirely, for this person. If a midsize business cannot handle the retained exposure, it could bankrupt a self-funded benefit plan. Presenting will be Robert J. Melillo, National Vice President of Risk Financing Solutions, USI Insurance Services, and Rick Stasi, Executive Vice President of Alternative Risk, Avizent. The webinar will be moderated by Business Insurance Senior Editor Joanne Wojcik. To view this $30 on-demand event, please register here.

International Expansion Risks for Middle-Market Firms

While expansion into foreign markets is often vital to a mid-market company’s long-term growth, it is also fraught with significant risks and potential liability exposures that firms and their executives must take into account before expanding internationally. Insurance products are available to mitigate some of these risks, but simply purchasing coverage is not enough. Fully understanding the scope of the insurance—and the appropriate loss control strategies—is as crucial as understanding the risks themselves. During a free Nov. 9 Business Insurance webinar—sponsored by Zurich Insurance—experts in the global risk management field will examine the complex risk profile mid-market firms are likely to encounter as they enter the international marketplace, as well as the insurance products designed to address those risks. Presenting will be Bill Skapof, head of the commercial international initiative at Zurich North America Commercial, and Shawn Burnsworth, vp and practice leader-international for Wells Fargo Insurance Services. The webinar will be moderated by Business Insurance Associate Editor Matt Dunning. To view this free on-demand event, please register here.
